Pray for strength!

I worked for a wonderful Christian man in Louisiana who is now laying in M.D. Anderson hospital in Houston. I am requesting prayer for God's will. This man is strong, but when I talked to him today on the phone he sounded weak. I ask him if I could put him on our prayer list and he said please do. So here is the request, he has the cancer of the lungs from breathing asbestos it starts with an M but I can't spell it. It has spread from his lungs to the rest of his body they are taking out organs that I thought you had to have to live. So for Joe 14 please pray for God's Will to be done. May God Bless.

Please be in prayer for Rhonda Stafford and her family. Rhonda’s mother, Floydean Shook, had surgery last Thursday morning to remove a tumor from her colon the size of a football. Floydean came through the surgery and recovery very well; however, when the doctors tried to remove the ventilator she went into cardiac arrest. They have revived her and have her in a paralyzed state until tomorrow when they try to take her off the ventilator again. Please pray for my wife Juana, she is having so much trouble with her knees, she is in constant pain. She is supposed to see the doctor soon, but I do not know when. Joann Gift, a counselor at the high school, fell several weeks ago and injured her leg and her shoulder. She is to have shoulder surgery today (December 9) in Amarillo. Gerald's total knee has been postponed. He failed the Thallium Stress Test last Wednesday! His Cardiologist saw something he didn't like. He called this afternoon with the following news. Leave in the morning for San Antonio VA. We have to be there around 1 PM @ admissions. The angiogram will be the next day...we think, after talking with Admissions in San Antonio. We aren't sure of anything else on the agenda. We'll see when we get there! We plan to have a good Thanksgiving where ever we are! (The plan was to eat with Kent & family.) Praise the Lord!!

Dusty is doing better and should make a full recovery. If her therapist says that it is okay, she might be released today. Please keep her in your prayers, now that she is going to have to learn how to live differently on a day to day basis. She will have to have insulin shots daily – they are teaching her how to do it today. Thank you and God Bless.

My sister-in-law’s niece, Dusty was just rushed to Amarillo. Dusty is a little 9 year old girl. She is in diabetic shock and is not doing well. Just wanted to ask for you to lift up in prayer, Gerald's brother, Jimmie Hunt. He and his wife, Gerry, went to Michigan last week to visit his daughter, Shawnda & family. A couple of days ago we got word that Jimmie fell and sat on his ankle, breaking it in 3 places and dislocating his ankle joint. He had to have it repaired at 10 AM, Texas time Nov. 3rd. He will have to stay off it for 2 months. Luckily at the hospital there, they have an on staff Orthopedic Surgeon that specializes in ankles. They will fly back to Post as soon as he is able to fly. My sister, Norma, had surgery on her right shoulder the 26th of October. She is doing very well. Today I talked with her and her pain only got up to a 2. The only other time she was in the hospital was when she had her 3 girls!!!! Unbelievable!! If all goes well, Gerald will have his total knee replacement Nov 30. He has to have a chemical stress test before the cardiologist OK's the surgery. Our son Kent Stephens will have surgery on his right knee around the 18th of December. Thank you for your prayers. I know prayers work because a year ago the circulation in Gerald's legs was 50%...now it is 75%!!!

Some of you receiving this know me, some do not. My wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed with stage 4 Cervical cancer. Her chances for survival are very slim. She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried recently at 3 Months.

Please be in Prayer for Al and Deb McNeely. Al has been diagnosed with Polymyositis and he is unable to sit up, stand, or walk on his own. He is bedrest at this time. He is in BSA room 587. This is his 23rd day in 3 hospitals. Tuesday, October 20th he will have surgery to place an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). He cannot have company that is not totally healthy because of his inability to fight germs. He has gone from 230 pounds last Christmas to 173 pounds. Deb is working at CBC as much as possible.

Julie Gutierrez from Green Acres - her son JJ Gutierrez was in a wreck in Amarillo last night. He's in ICU at Northwest Texas with head injuries - swelling of the brain and he is in a coma. He also has a broken pelvis and bruised lungs as well, but they are watching the head for now.

Our nephew, Charlie, left Wednesday, September 30th for Afghanistan. This is his second duty - the first was in Kuwait.

Please be in prayer for Al and Debra McNeely of Dumas. Al works for Xcel. He had knee surgery a few months ago. While recovering at home, he became very ill with what they thought was a heart attack. When rushed to Amarillo it was determined that it was not a heart attack. He has been in BSA ICU since then. Deb has been driving back and forth and trying to work (secretary at Calvery Baptist). Please pray for Richard's baby sister. We just found out today that she has stage 4 stomach cancer and was taken to Amarillo this morning. All they can do is chemo. Her name is Ellen Schollenbarger and lives in Dumas. She lost her husband little over a year ago with cancer. Thank you so much for the prayers for my brother. He is cancer free, and we are praising God for this miracle. The doctors say it will come back in 6 months or 6 years. We pray it does not.
Keep me in your prayers. I hope to get the surgery on my knee next month. I do not get out much because it hurts so much to walk.

My sister called last night and told us that her husband Juan has his imigration hearing today at 11:00 in Boise, ID (that's 10:00 our time). The judge may decide to send him back to Mexico right then and there. And on top of it all, my sister found out Sat that they are expecting. This is all very overwhelming, and they don't know what there next turn is. They are asking for prayer, and I thank you all for praying for them. God's will is perfect, now we just have to find out what his will is.

Update on Ed's Mom and Zeke

Ed's Mom is much better. We are waiting for results from the doctor's tests.

Zeke came through the MRI with no problems. He has been diagnosed with Partial Complex Seizure Disorder. This can be controlled with medication and some careful handling. He should outgrow this in 3-5 years. The doctors say he is healthy, intelligent and a bit on the ornery side - something we already knew but were blessed to hear.

Ed's Mom has been transferred from the Buffalo hospital to a hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. She will be having a MRI to determine if cancer has spread to her brain.

During a recent family vacation, Zeke, our three year old grandson had a seizure. He will be having a MRI Friday morning and there is some concern about this as he must be asleep to do so.

Please continue to pray for Lise’ Vitz. She is having more complications and is losing the sight in her right eye and having problems with her right side, which has been her good side. They feel the cancer is growing again. She had good news from Anthony her youngest son in the Air Force and he recently got transferred to Georgia. Moved next door to a retired Air Force Couple, got invited and went to Southern Baptist church with them and Laura his wife was saved, and they were both baptized, and now we hear they are expecting, Lise’s first Grandbaby. God is so good!

Thanks so much for all the prayers for myself and my sister. God is so good. Sue (my sister) got word that her problem with her heart was just electrical it can be corrected. (Easier than open heart surgery). I will not have to have hip replacement. Just my left knee. I can handle knee surgery, I already have had the right one done. Maybe, just maybe I will be walking great soon. I give God the Glory. He is always there when I need Him, just like he promised.

Doris Marshall went home to be with her Lord yesterday. Ralph Bynum's surgery was thought to have gone well this afternoon, but he was sent back into emergency surgery around 8:00 PM tonight to repair some internal bleeding. During the surgery, Ralph passed away from an apparent heart attack. Sometimes things happen that we do not understand and we will not know His purpose until we stand in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Please continue to be in prayer for Ralph Bynum. His esophagus cancer surgery is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th at 10:00 AM at BSA. Please pray that only the lower fourth of his esophagus will have to be removed and the rest of his esophagus will be healthy when the doctors do this surgery. Update on Frank James

Thank you for the prayers, the cards and the visits. I am home, swollen and stiff. God is so good. I give Him thanks. They removed two disks in my neck and put in a shield, and then they did the Carpal Tunnel on my left wrist. Dr. Banister said it was much worse than he thought. I will be watching Sunday School and Church from home the next week or two, but I'll be thinking of you and praying with you. I ask that you pray for Juana. She has had an ear infection and needs your prayers. Last Sunday was great. The choir was so good. Brother Jerry, I want you to know I DID NOT have my surgery just so I couldn't help you move. Prayers & Praises

Thanks for all the prayers this week! It was not pneumonia, the doctor took an x-ray of my chest and saw some scar tissue so he is sending me to a lung specialist next week. Please pray that it was only a shadow or something and they can find why I'm having trouble breathing. God is my rock. Thank you for all your prayers.

Please keep remembering our son-in-law Jim Clements he is back to work (light duty and he is hating that he is ready to get back on his motorcycle) but he still has some headaches. Also I ask that you pray for Mary and Charlie Davis they are having some problems with upper respiratory problems like all the rest of us.

And lets keep John Haltom in prayer, pray that this surgery works to give him relief from pain.

Don't forget to give thanks to the Lord for Bro. Jerry and family. I hear excitement in the voices of our congregation again like I haven't heard since I have been here. PRAISE THE LORD. Continued Prayer Request

Ralph Bynum's daughter, Tammy, is doing well from her breast cancer surgery, but will have to start chemo treatments twice a week for a month, beginning this week. Ralph is half way through his daily chemo/radiation treatments for his esophagus cancer. Please be in prayer for them as it is very hard to not only go through this treatment, but to be unable to see each other and receive mutual father/daughter TLC. Update on John Haltom

John Haltom has received a telephone call from his surgeon, the trial run for the stimulators to be put in his back will be scheduled the first part of March. Then if they are successful after 3 days, they will schedule surgery to put them in permanent. As of last night the pain is still the same, but he was able to straighten his back and walk more upright. We don't know what has happened there, but we give God always the Glory for any changes for the best. Thank you all for prayers and continued lifting. The Haltom Family

He has been in a lot of pain and finally received information from the doctor that he is going to have a "trial" run of day surgery to see if they can help him. He is going to have a nerve stimulator placed to block the nerve sensitvity to his back in his lower lumbar area. Continued Prayer Need

Please be in prayer for Ralph Bynum as he begins his weekly radiation and chemo starting Tuesday, February 3rd. He will have radiation everyday (Monday - Friday) and will go every Monday to receive a chemo pouch to wear through Friday and then start over again the next Monday. He will have to do this for 5 to 6 weeks. Ralph is requesting continued prayers for his daughter, Tammy, who lives in Lubbock and has breast cancer. She has had chemo to shrink the tumor and it has been successful! Their prayers were also answered as she had very little difficulty during her chemo treatments! She will have a modified radical mastectomy on February 10th. Please keep this entire family in your prayers as they deal with two members of their family undergoing cancer treatment. Judy Watson
